The Middle States Geographer is the official academic journal of the Middle States Division of the Association of American Geographers. The journal is published annually and includes papers from external submissions and the Division Annual Meeting. The Middle States Geographer contains papers authored by both faculty and students (with peer-review by at least two reviewers) and covers a wide range of topics.
The journal started in 1967 and the editorship has been passed around the Division since that time. In recent history, E. Willard Miller (Penn State University) edited the journal from 1991 through 1994. Kim Irvine (Buffalo State College) took over the editorship in 1995 with Dona Schneider (Rutgers University) as co-editor. Greg Stein (1996-1999), Kelly Frothingham (1999-2005), and Stephen Vermette (2005) (all of Buffalo State College) served as co-editors with Kim Irvine at various times. Kelly Frothingham and Stephen Vermette served as co-editors from 2006 through 2011. The current editors of the Middle States Geographer are Adam Kalkstein (West Point University) and Paul Marr (Shippensburg University).
