About the cover: The 2012 Annual Meeting was hosted by the Department of Geography and Environmental Science on the Shippensburg University campus in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. Shippensburg  was established  in 1871 as the Cumberland Valley State Normal School and was purchased by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1917. The normal school received a charter in 1926, making it the first normal school in Pennsylvania to become a state teachers college. Current enrollment at the university is over 6,700 undergraduate and 1,000 graduate students. The cover photograph is of Shippensburg University’s 116 year old fountain, located in front of the Old Main administration building, which was restored in 2012.
